MISTI
Suzanne Berger, Faculty
Richard Samuels PhD ’80, Faculty
MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives, created by Samuels in 1983 at MIT’s Center for International Studies and led for two decades by Berger, invented applied international studies. Faculty from the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences prepare students with courses in the language, history, and culture of host countries. MISTI then matches students with international internships in companies and research institutes—training them as global leaders in STEM, management, and many other fields.
