Pedaling a Message of Sustainability in China
Supported by a Bill and Lisa Ford Fellowship, David Wang is spreading a message of sustainable mobility in China and beyond. The graduate student in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, and soon-to-be MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management, is the founder of Bamboo Bicycles Beijing, a do-it-yourself workshop. “The best part of a bamboo bicycle is that anyone in a community can make one,” says Wang, who recently piloted a workshop in Boston. “With the support of this fellowship, I have been able to continue teaching young people to make their own bicycles and nurturing a mobility culture that cherishes local community involvement and design.”
