Forrester founded System Dynamics, a way to mathematically model and understand complex issues and problems over time. Originally developed in the 1950s to help corporate managers better understand industrial processes, new applications for systems dynamics have been discovered over the years, and it is currently used to model a wide variety of areas, including socioeconomic, ecological, managerial, and urban systems.
