Technicolor
Daniel Comstock 1904
Herbert Kalmus 1904
Comstock and Kalmus, along with their business partner W. Burton Wescott, founded a company in 1915 to market their color cinematography system named for their alma mater: Technicolor. The process took several years—and multiple iterations of the technology—to catch on. But eventually, in films from Gone with the Wind to Bambi, Technicolor set the standard for vibrant color in Hollywood’s Golden Age.
