The MIT Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC) is helping MIT students reach their full potential by providing a transformative advising experience and empowering undergraduates to grow and excel throughout their academic journey at MIT. Each and every MIT student arrives on campus with different goals, interests, and challenges. Whether they need assistance exploring experiential learning opportunities, finding extracurricular activities, or seeking well-being services, the UAC makes connections to appropriate resources.

A 5,000-square-foot suite—opened in fall 2025—prominently located on the Infinite Corridor in Building 11, is home for the UAC. In the welcoming space, students connect with one another and advisors who provide a guiding hand on a wide range of topics (from choosing majors, minors, or concentrations, to learning about financial aid, career pathways, and more). The UAC builds upon the successful model of the Office of the First Year, expanded to serve upperclass students. Additionally, the UAC has full-time staff dedicated to serving our First Generation and/or Low Income students, who make up roughly 30% of MIT’s undergraduate population. The UAC represents a transformative investment in the undergraduate experience.

New vaults, situated just off of the Infinite Corridor in Building 11, provide a unique space for students to take a break between classes, chat with friends, or get a little work done. The vaults were fabricated in New Hampshire.

n the Pi Lounge, located across from the vaults, wallpaper features a non-repeating sequence of pi digits.

Pi wallpaper is carried out to 10,638 digits after 3.14 in the new Pi Lounge.

Students can congregate on the social stairs, either informally or for an Undergraduate Advising Center workshop. Glass doors beyond the stairs lead directly to the UAC office.

The Undergraduate Advising Center office is flooded with natural light and has a variety of workspace options, including open workstations, private advising rooms, and conference rooms with Zoom capability.

You can strengthen the UAC as it supports students through proactive, consistent, and comprehensive advising. Various naming opportunities are available, including interior spaces such as the Community Stairs and Pi Lounge, as well as an overarching naming opportunity of the center.
