More concrete is produced than any other material on Earth. As director of the Concrete Sustainability Hub (CSHub), Ulm leads a team of engineers and scientists in studying ways this staple material can contribute to sustainable development and economic growth while minimizing ecological impact. Nicknamed “the liquid stone gang,” the CSHub experts are developing new forms of concrete, along with novel applications for it in construction, deep-water oil drilling, and blast resistance.
