Iconic Towers and a Glass Pyramid

One of the most recognized architects of the 20th century—he received the Pritzker Prize in 1980—Pei designed the National Gallery’s iconic East Wing in Washington, DC, in the 1970s. Among the architect’s other significant buildings are Boston’s Hancock Tower and Kennedy Library; the striking glass pyramid at the Louvre in Paris; and the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong. On MIT’s campus, Pei designed Building 66, the Green Building, and the first Media Lab.
