A planned renovation of the pyramid-shaped ziggurat atop the intersection of Buildings 1 and 3 and the rooftop of Building 1 will increase the footprint of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and provide state-of-the-art space for collaborative activities. A transformative renovation is converting this iconic building into a new home for the MIT School of Architecture and Planning and a location for the Morningside Academy for Design, plus a community makerspace managed by Project Manus. Under construction through 2025. Yet to be raised: $24M
The centralized headquarters for the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing will be an interdisciplinary hub for research and innovation in computing, artificial intelligence, and related fields. Under construction through 2023. Yet to be raised: $76M
A renewal of the Student Center will improve design, infrastructure, and flexible-use space in this hub of student life. A Wellbeing Lab will anchor MIT’s well-being initiatives, and new dance studios and multipurpose space will be featured on the fourth floor. Construction slated for summer 2023.
